Leopold Auer’s Twelve Characteristic Preludes, in the Form of Melodious Studies for Violin, Op. 9 are tailored for violinists who already fluently play at an advanced level. Auer’s treatment of each covered playing technique often corresponds to the depth with which it is explored in such studies as the Carl Flesch Urstudien [Basic Studies] and the D. C.
